Abstract was named Scottish New Restaurant of the Year in the 2007 Scottish Chef Awards and Best Edinburgh Newcomer in this year's List Magazine Food and Drink Awards.
Abstract has been awarded the Eat Scotland Gold Award - October 2008 part of the review comments includes:
"Abstract is a very welcome addition on the dining out scene in Edinburgh. With the entrance off Castle Terrace into a bar and seating area where you can sit and relax have a pre diner drink and look over the interesting menus and wine list. The restaurant is very comfortable and relaxing with the dark wood and snake skin style table tops. Service is attentive and well timed while the kitchen makes use of high quality Scottish produce.” The Gloucester Old Spot Pig’s Trotter rolled in Parma Ham, Black Pudding, Veal Sweetbread served is decribed as: “A most attractive dish executed and presented with great skill and meticulous attention to detail."
